The Heart Cut #12 marks the first single malt Scotch in this series and comes from Nc’nean’s organic, independent B-Corp distillery on Scotland’s west coast. Finished in a Madeira cask and released as a small single-cask bottling of 391 bottles, this expression is bright, fruity and distinctly modern in its acidity and sweetness.
Nc’nean #12 is defined by its organic credentials and Madeira finishing: the spirit’s tropical top notes and lively esters are enhanced by the warm, oxidative character of Madeira, producing a creamy, rum-and-raisin quality with raspberry and citrus highlights.
Pairing Suggestions:
Nc’nean #12’s rum-and-raisin and dried-raspberry character is well suited to fruit-led desserts such as baked apricot tarts or rum-soaked raisin puddings.
Tasting Note:
Nc’nean #12 opens with bright lemon balm and sherbet-lemon aromatics, followed by tropical top notes of papaya and guava. On the palate the tropical fruit leads, supported by a creamy vanilla-cream texture, malt-biscuit sweetness and delicate sugar-puff nostalgia, with a threaded note of dried raspberry and a soft walnut warmth. The finish is long and elegant, returning to lemon balm with a playful sherbet zing and a faint echo of peach yoghurt.
