The Story
Unmistakably Canadian Rye Whisky
From the creative mind of master blender Dr Don Livermore at Hiram Walker, Lot No. 40 Dark Oak is a powerful evolution of the classic Lot 40 Rye. Crafted for whisky lovers who crave intensity, this award-winning spirit captures the bold heart of Canada’s rye tradition while adding layers of smoke, spice, and depth.
Winner of the coveted title of World’s Best Rye at the 2021 World Whiskies Awards, Lot No. 40 Dark Oak showcases the mastery of small-batch production.
Production:
Made entirely from rye grain, this whisky is double distilled using both column and pot stills for remarkable precision. Its defining character comes from a two-stage ageing process, first in new American oak barrels, then in heavily charred new oak, which deepens its caramel richness and amplifies its signature peppered spice.
Pairing Suggestions:
Perfect with grilled ribeye steak, smoked brisket, or roasted root vegetables with maple glaze. Try alongside aged cheddar or dark chocolate for a rich, warming experience.
Tasting Note:
Warm aromas of caramel, vanilla, and dried fruit lead to a spice-driven palate layered with black pepper, oak smoke, and a refreshing hint of mint on the finish.
Origin:
Ontario, Canada
Alcohol:
